About the Discover.film Academy

Discover.film is changing the world of entertainment, for the first time making the exciting genre of short film mainstream. We run a film festival to source the best short films and distribute them via an app, film clubs and cinemas.

The judging panel at discover.film watch over 5,000 short films per year and source the very best short films from around the world, those which entertain and tell a good story. As part of this reviewing process, we have identified a number of recurring problems with submitted films such as a lack of a strong story,  overly long run-times and weak characterisations.

Against this background the discover.film academy has been set up to work with filmmakers to improve their filmmaking skills. We assist with film production, cinematography, scriptwriting, planning and budgeting, and technical aspects such as creating DCPs (Digital Cinema Package). We offer practical, tailored advice to first time film makers and advanced fine-tuning to experienced professionals.
