Spider Short Film
Spider is a 2007 Australian black comedy short film. Consummate joker Jack plays a prank on his girlfriend Jill that goes too far. But like mum said, “It’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye.”
The Director, Nash Edgerton, stated that he was inspired to make it from “an incident in a car with my brother and a spider on the highway” and that he also got the idea from thinking about when he used to “constantly prank my mum with a toy spider in the kitchen”. There is dark humour that flows from these inspirations and creates the sort of comedy that has you laughing but also wincing at the same time. As a central part of the technical delivery revolves around a stunt, you will appreciate the significance of Edgerton’s professional background as both a filmmaker and stuntman – a combination that he uses to good effect. In addition to making the short film Spider, as a stuntman Edgerton has worked on The Matrix Trilogy, Superman Returns and Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.
This film was shot on Super 16.
